WELCOME

My name is Marissa and welcome to Real Wellness Counseling. I started this practice with the goal of providing inclusive, safe and accessible  psychotherapy for clients. Taking that first step to look for support, is different for everyone and only you know when the time is right for you. I believe trust is the foundation of every relationship. I recognize therapy may be uncomfortable in the beginning when the work involves talking to someone you do not know;  that is a natural feeling to have. I believe through open and honest conversations, we can work to build that trust with each other; to gain insights through self exploration, personal growth and begin to heal.

My focus is on individual treatment with adults.  I am mindful of where each client is on their journey. Through our first few sessions we will get to know each other and you can decide if I am a good fit for you as a clinician.  You feeling comfortable is most important. In our time together, I will assess what is needed from me as your therapist to help create a compassionate and empathetic environment to do the work. I promote open discussions while incorporating appropriate strategies/coping skills for stressors, negative thoughts and behaviors. My work with a client may take an eclectic approach for comprehensive treatment to support a client's needs. 

A consistent goal I have for my clients is not only to be able to better cope with current problems, but any future problems they may face as well with the focus being on progress not perfection.  The process and work can be tiresome but with trust, compassion and empathy being at the foundation of my practice my hope is you feel the support needed to continue with your 'why' that has brought you to seek therapy.
